FW: Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration

Subject: Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration

The State of Virginia was well represented at the 72nd Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration from August 25 to September 4, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This year's Celebration saw 2,322 horses answer the gate call to compete for over $650,000 in prizes and awards. Over the 11 day competition, 20 World Championships were awarded, all leading up to the crowning of the official 2010 World Grand Champion, The Coach, before 30,000 screaming fans.
The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeder's Association and Middle Tennessee State University  sponsored this year's All Youth Day at the Celebration. Over 200 Juniors and Seniors from Tennessee and surrounding states judged six classes of Tennessee Walkers, three halter and three performance. Classes included Halter Mares, Halter Geldings, Yearlings, Two-Gait Padded, Western Pleasure and Two-Gait English Pleasure. The top ten individuals were recognized in the Halter, Performance and Overall divisions, and the top five teams received awards in the same categories.
After the scores had been tallied, the Junior Judging team from Albemarle County Virginia anxiously awaited the results. The team was thrilled to hear their names among the top finishers: Ellen Jordan placed 7th in Performance; Hannah Ho placed 6th, 10th, and 5th; and Julia Hartman placed 3rd, 1st, and 2nd, in Halter, Performance, and Overall, respectively.
The team as a whole placed 2nd in Halter, 1st in Performance, and 1st Overall, winning an enormous ribbon and a US Savings bond for each team member. The Albemarle Hoof 'n' Woof 4-H Club Junior Judging Team thanks its coaches, Bertha Durbin and Lauren Hartburg, for their time, effort and dedication to the club.
