2010 Kid's Tech University for 9-12 year olds

Hello everyone!
We are proud to have been chosen by Virginia Tech’s Bioinformatics Institute to be the first institution outside their University to premier their highly-acclaimed scientific program for youth, Kids’ Tech University (KTU). This collaborative effort between Virginia State and Virginia Tech will commence on October 30th and once again on December 4th. The program is designed to serve 100 children ages 9-12 years old and their parents who will come to VSU to watch lectures by world renowned research scientists and participate in interactive hands-on activities.

Each day’s events will cover two of the disciplines of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The theme for the October 30th event will be Mathematics and Engineering and the theme of the December 4th event will be Science and Technology. The hands-on portion of the event will have children and their parents visit exhibitors where they can engage with simple hands-on activities presented by VSU clubs, departments, professors and extension specialists.

The KTU program and brunch are free for the participating children but parent(s) will have to pay for their own brunch ($7.50) and accompany their child to Jones Dining Hall. Donations for the program are optional and can be made via the internet. Registration for the first program begins at 6:00 PM on September 30th. Parent(s) or either guardian(s) are required to attend and escort their child during KTU.
