To All 4-Hers,
I'm pleased to announce that the community service project that we will run in conjunction with the State 4-H Horse Show is "4-H is Changing Lives". We will be collecting change (and bills) during the State Show and donating it to the Theraputic Riding Association of Virginia, Inc. This association helps people with disabilities rehabilitate using horses with amazing results...they are a wonderful organization dedicated to helping others. 4-H has changed our lives. By collecting change, each 4-Her can help "change" someone else's life!!! Let's start collecting spare change NOW and make this another fantastic community service project.
I have already been approached about collecting coats again and will do so, also to be distributed to needy individuals.
I also would challenge all 4-Hers that turn in an entry form to the State 4-H Horse Show to write a brief "thank you" note to be sent to our servicemen and servicewomen who serve in our armed forces to ensure our freedom. It only takes a few minutes, but makes a huge difference in a homesick serviceman's life. This is another way to make a positive "change" in someone's life.
If you have any questions, please contact me at Onearbo@aol.com . I look forward to helping make this community service project as successful as the coat drive was in 2009.
Thanks,
Lisa Arbogast
An additional note from Celeste C. Crisman, Equine Extension Specialist - Youth:
"As you know Lisa Arbogast organized the Coat Drive at last year's State Horse Show and Good Will had never before collected that many items at one event - they were astounded!! So, I know that you all can make this year's effort equally as successful if not more so!! Thanks for all you do!"
